Iwate University Ihatov Summer Program (2024)

The "Iwate University Ihatov Summer Program" kicked off on Augst 19^th! A total of 23 students from our various partner universities came and enjoyed our short-term summer program, with some of them joining our agriculture plan and others joining our standard plan.

Nine students from our partner universities in China, Taiwan, Canada, Russia, and Thailand joined us for our standard plan. They attended Japanese classes in the morning and cultural activities such as, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, calligraphy, yukatas, and various Japanese games in the afternoon.On the weekend, they went on field trips, visiting places like Tono and Hiraizumi!

11 students and 3 staff members from our partner university, the University of Saskatchewan joined our agriculture plan. After getting a brief Japanese lesson, they enjoyed various lectures, visited research centers, and spoke with farmers for a fulfilling and educational look into agriculture in Iwate.

Despite the delays in both plans due to multiple typhoons, the Summer Program proved to be a wonderful opportunity, with all participants gaining a deeper understanding of both Japan and Iwate
